Following my excitement the other day about Joyce on “miaow” and Nabokov on seagulls, here’s another brief glint from Ulysses. This brief reexperiencing of the book has been a lot more enjoyable than when I first read it – that was a case of forcing yourself through page by page. Anyway, here’s Joyce on bats:

Like a little man in a cloak he is with tiny hands.
