Hold on! So a month or so ago I posted a link to this, an architect’s proposal to convert an open-pit mine into an “inverted skyscraper” – a domed community that would make a former environmental wasteland into a sustainable mini-city. It seems that some ideas are catching: another set of architects are now proposing much the same thing for a disused diamond mine in Siberia (with solar power, apparently?).

Plans for a domed city in a kilometer-wide Siberian diamond mine.
