This is some cool physics, not that I really understand it. Some kind of invisibility cloak thing – using special new materials to bend light (because they’re making materials that light travels slower in, now). Two things: 1) “cloak” is one of those words that sounds stranger the more you say or read it – starts evoking “croak” and “coke”; 2) absolutely classic ending to a science article. They’ve been getting all heated up about the possibility of making things invisible and hinting at time travel etc, then it finishes with: “the theory could have practical implications in the future for quantum computing by opening up new possibilities for signal processing.”

Yeah, sounds great. I mean, sure, quantum computers should rule the world and everything (Google is Skynet!) when they come along, but that was a bit of a let-down after all the invisibility talk.
